VU Games to unleash 'Predator'

Release not a direct tie-in with upcoming film

Vivendi Universal Games will be releasing a new "Predator" vidgame later this year, looking to profit off Fox's upcoming "Aliens v. Predator" pic.

Game will not be a direct tie-in with the film, which makes sense since the pic comes after two "Aliens vs. Predator" vidgames have already been published by VU Games' studio Sierra.

A release date hasn't yet been set by VU, leaving it up in the air whether the title will hit stores concurrent with the film's August bow.

Company also hasn't revealed whether any of the film talent will be involved in the game, although writer-director Paul W.S. Anderson has a long history of collaboration in the two mediums, having already helmed vidgame adaptations "Mortal Kombat" and "Resident Evil."

Cooperation between VU Games and Fox comes after the two companies made a deal last year for VU to publish games developed by Fox's interactive division.

VU Games also provided additional information on another film adaptation skedded for 2004, "Fight Club." Company confirmed that the game, scheduled to ship for the holidays, will feature action in a number of locations from the movie but won't include the voice or likenesses of pic's stars Edward Norton and Brad Pitt.

Publisher's other major film adaptations skedded for the year are based on U's own "Chronicles of Riddick" and "Van Helsing."
