Prime Universe inks deal with Devil

Horror pic 'Hack/Slash' to be alliance's first release

Producer Adrian Askarieh's Prime Universe Prods. has signed a two-year first-look deal with comicbook company Devil's Due Publishing.

First project to come out of alliance will be the upcoming horror pic "Hack/Slash," to be released in April. Askarieh is producing with Chuck Gordon and Daniel Alter.

Prime also will spearhead the branding of DDP's properties for videogames and interactive media.

Askarieh is also teamed with Gordon on Universal's upcoming actioner "Spy Hunter," starring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. That pic's skedded for a summer 2005 release.

Devil's Due relaunched the 1980s icon G.I. Joe through Image Comics in 2001. It is also known for such nostalgia-based comic adaptations as "Micronauts" and "Voltron." DDP left Image Comics to self-publish this January.
