Outdoor Life goes o'seas

Cable Ready to distrib network's p'gramming

NEW YORK -- TV viewers outside the U.S. will soon be surfing their way through shows like "Ducks Unlimited," "Hooked on Fly Fishing," "Lumberjack World Championships" and "Wild Survival With Corbin Bernsen."

For the first time, Comcast's Outdoor Life Network has signed a deal that will funnel 597 hours of programming, the network's entire output, into the international marketplace.

The distributor is Cable Ready, the 12-year-old company based in Norwalk, Conn., that syndicates such shows as Bravo's "Inside the Actors Studio" and Court TV's "Forensic Files" throughout the world.

Outdoor Life, which reaches 58 million cable and satellite homes, divides its programming into five categories: adventure/outdoors, wildlife, hunting/fishing, competition/event and wheels.

Other series to be distributed by Cable Ready include "Adventure Quest," "Snow Adventures," "Shotgun Journal," "Trout Unlimited" and "Professional Surfing Tour."

The executives who negotiated the deal were Gary Lico, president and CEO of Cable Ready, and Becky Ruthven, senior VP of affiliate sales for Outdoor Life.
