Morgan Creek opens 'Case 39'

Deal is first since shingle pacted with U last fall

Morgan Creek Prods. has acquired Ray Wright's original script "Case 39."

The psychological horror story follows a social worker trying to rescue a young girl from abusive parents but who begins to suspect the girl may not be so innocent after all.

Morgan Creek topper James Robinson will produce.

Deal is the first announced by Morgan Creek since it pacted with Universal Pictures last fall. Shingle finances its own pics for U to distrib.

Wright's previous scripts include "The Apprentice," which was sold to Warner Bros.; "American Lit," for producer Carol Baum; and "Yeager," a biopic of Chuck Yeager for 20th Century Fox.
