Zide skeds Matinee date for 'Nightfall'

Vampire pic skedded to begin shooting later this year

Warren Zide's new production shingle, Matinee Pictures, is gearing up its slate.

Company, which will begin operations in April, has bought Michael Stokes' horror script "Nightfall" in a low-six-figure deal and plans to begin shooting later this year.

Craig Perry and John Baldecchi are producing. Sheila Hanahan will exec produce.

"Nightfall" is a kidnapping gone awry: Two buddies snatch a woman who turns out to be a vampire queen. The she vamp's authenticity is questioned by the kidnappers until her vampire legion sets out to get her back.

Matinee was formed late last year by Zide as Anthem Entertainment and has an equity-backed financing deal at Sony.

Previously, the "American Pie" producer was partnered with Perry in management/production company Zide/Perry Entertainment, based at MGM. The management portion of that company, now called Magnet Management and run by Perry, has a first-look deal with Matinee.

Stokes also wrote the script for Fox's upcoming "The Keys to the Street," based on the Ruth Rendell mystery, and "Keepers," a horror pic set up at Artisan. He has also produced episodics and features for television.
