Film House falls 'Unconscious'

Pic sold to distribs ahead of fest berth

Initiating pre-sales on one of the standout Spanish film productions this year, new sales consortium Latido has licensed Joaquin Oristrell's period comedy "Inconscientes" (Unconscious) to Mexican distrib Film House.

Attending its first American Film Market, Latido, which officially launched at the Berlin fest, is also fielding offers from Benelux and South Korea, said sales head Massimo Saidel.

Written and directed by Oristrell, pic stars Leonor Watling ("Talk to Her"). It records, with Oristrell's trademark irony, how a prim and proper, if enlightened, bourgeoise attempted to assimilate Freud's theories.

"Unconscious" should clinch a berth at a major fall fest, as could be the case with Sergio Cabrera's potentially Venice-bound thriller "Perder es cuestion de metodo" (The Art of Losing), which has been taken by Mikado for Italy.

Latido is negotiating remake rights on black gangster comedy "Dos tipos duros" (Two Tough Guys) for Russia and Korea, having closed Russian rights for the original with Paradise, Saidel said.

French sales company Vision Intl., which Saidel also heads, has picked up the latest film from Chilean helmer Miguel Littin, the Arabic- and Hebrew-lingo Palestine-set "La ultima luna."

Vision also closed a slew of sales on Chilean erotic thriller "Debutantes," including, among new deals, Venevision for the U.S.
