Kevin Macdonald's BAFTA-winning "Touching the Void" has become the highest-grossing documentary in British box office history.
Released by Pathe, the movie has reached £1.68 million ($3.19 million) after 11 weeks, overtaking the previous record set of $3.17 million set by Michael Moore's "Bowling for Columbine" in 2002.
After it won the Alexander Korda Award for British film at Sunday's BAFTAs, Pathe is predicting that "Touching the Void," which recounts a near-fatal mountaineering expedition, will become the first doc to break the £2 million barrier in Blighty.
