MEXICO CITY -- Salma Hayek is looking to topline and/or direct "The Man in the House Across the Street." Project is being penned by Abram Makowka from thesp's original idea.
Pic is being produced by Sergio Aguero and Jorge Vergara's Apuesta Pictures; Hayek's company Ventanarrosa will be involved as a co-producer.
Comedy deals with a Mexican woman married to an American drug dealer who is being investigated by a retired cop, himself a drug addict. Pic will shoot in Mexico and Los Angeles next fall.
Ventanarrosa has produced or co-produced five projects, including "Frida" and Showtime made-for-TV movie "The Maldonado Miracle," which Hayek helmed.
Vergara, the millionaire owner of the Omnilife food supplement business, also produced "The Devil's Backbone" and is working on U.S.-shot "The Assassination of Richard Nixon" and the Ecuador-lensed "Cronicas," among other projects.
