NEW YORK -- Broadway got a reprieve from wintry weather during Week 37 (Feb. 2-8), and grosses rebounded accordingly. B.O. was up by 7.3% to $12,546,800, and attendance climbed by 10.6% to 195,779.
The tourist tuners made up some lost ground, with "Thoroughly Modern Millie" getting the biggest boost, up $107,113 to $451,320. One of the few shows to lose significant ground was "The Boy From Oz," down a hefty $219,751 to $373,000. The reason? The show shut down for four perfs as star Hugh Jackman took a break.
"Taboo" saw the biggest gain of the week for its final performances. It grossed $443,274 for its last frame, up $147,923.
The 21 musicals grossed $11,513,270 for 91.8% of the Broadway total, with attendance of 174,739 at 74.4% of capacity.
The six plays grossed $1,033,530 for 8.2% of the Broadway total, with attendance of 21,040 repping 54.5% of capacity.
Average ticket prices were $65.89 for musicals, $49.12 for plays and $64.09 for all shows.
