Aykroyd
Dan Aykroyd has joined the cast of Revolution Studios' comedy "Skipping Christmas," which studio topper Joe Roth will direct.
In the adaptation of the John Grisham bestseller, Tim Allen plays Luther Krank, who decides to skip Christmas and its trappings and go on a vacation with his wife instead. When his daughter decides at the last minute to come home for the holiday, Krank is forced to put Christmas back together.
Jamie Lee Curtis plays the wife.
Aykroyd will play Vic Frohmeyer, the Kranks' busybody neighbor who organizes the street's holiday decorations every year and is outraged when he learns of Luther's plan to skip Christmas.
Production on the pic starts in April, with Revolution and Sony planning to release the pic in November.
Aykroyd's most recent pic is Columbia's "50 First Dates," which opens today.
Chris Columbus penned the script for "Skipping Christmas" and will produce the pic with his 1492 Pictures partners, Michael Barnathan and Mark Radcliffe.
Revolution partner Todd Garner is overseeing the project with Suzanne Todd.
