George
Boy George is going silently, if not quietly.
His first Broadway musical, "Taboo," will close Sunday, representing a $12 million loss for its producer, Rosie O'Donnell. Boy George (aka George O'Dowd) not only co-starred, he wrote the score for the tuner, based on his life story.
So why would such a major creative force in the theater be expected to show up Monday for the cast album recording session?
"It's 7 p.m. and he's still not here," one miffed company member reported.
Some people obviously expected the Boy to record along with the rest of the cast.
A spokesman for "Taboo," however, tells it differently, saying that unlike typical Broadway albums, which are recorded with the entire cast together, George's tracks were skedded to be recorded another day because his background is as a recording artist.

And "The Retreat From Moscow" makes it four.
The William Nicholson drama will close Feb. 29 after 24 previews and 147 regular perfs. It will follow "Taboo," "Never Gonna Dance" and "Gypsy" as the fourth show to shutter on Broadway this month.
Contracts for "Moscow" stars John Lithgow, Eileen Atkins and Ben Chaplin will expire Feb. 29.
