Next time your top-billed actor balks at recording an audio track for the DVD, show him this site, then ask him to reconsider. DVD Tracks is a directory of alternative audio files for DVDs. Film buffs have done feature-length commentaries on 83 films, and it's not just the ones you'd expect. Starting with "Groundhog's Day" related by a native of Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania, the free commentaries span the expected sci-fi releases of Star Treks, Star Wars and The Matrixes. However, they also include
A Clockwork Orange,
Almost Famous, 1931
Dracula and
Shakespeare in Love. There appears to be a number of releases listed but without actual tracks; though the site is growing slowly, it certainly has potential to be a nice resource for those people who want even more than the deluxe edition, or who are disappointed that an old favorite was released with no commentary whatsoever.
