Published in 1990 by Bantam's Starfire imprint, book is the story of Jeannie, a high school freshman who gains access to a magical genie. Any wish can be granted, but she finds herself transformed from the inside out. It's out to writers.
Randall Emmett and George Furla will produce the picture, with Rachel Specter serving as exec producer.
In addition, Emmett/Furla has acquired the rights to "The Contract," written by Stephen Katz and John Darrouzet. It's the story of a father who tries to redeem himself with his son by bringing an assassin to justice.
Next up for Emmett/Furla Films is "Edison," now in pre-production in Vancouver. Pic stars Morgan Freeman, Kevin Spacey and LL Cool J.
