Rae backs Lazio for talker

TV producer supports ex-solon

TV producer Ian Rae has pacted with Rick Lazio to develop a weekly talkshow hosted by the former Republican congressman.

As envisioned, show would focus on business and politics. Lazio, a New Yorker, lost his 2000 U.S. Senate bid to Hilary Clinton. He now runs the Financial Services Forum, a nonprofit org based on Gotham.

"Rick is very television-friendly," said Rae, creator of tabloid TV show "A Current Affair."

Rae said he isn't sure what the best venue is for the show -- syndication, cable or public television.

Rae, who formed his own shingle two years ago after retiring as exec VP of Fox News Channel, will also promote Lazio as a guest news commentator.

Lazio has made a number of TV appearances since his failed Senate bid, including as a guest host on both CNN and Fox News.
