Director Ridley Scott has coronated Eva Green to play the female lead in "Kingdom of Heaven," the Crusades-era epic adventure that Scott is filming in Morocco for 20th Century Fox.
She will play Sibylla, a princess who falls in love with Balian, a peasant-turned-knight played by Orlando Bloom. William Monahan wrote the script; pic's being produced by Scott, with Branko Lustig, Lisa Ellzey and Terry Needham exec producing.
Green, a 23-year-old who lives in France, made a splashy debut in the Bernardo Bertolucci-directed film "The Dreamers," which had its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival. The premiere sparked a courting campaign by Hollywood agencies that just ended when Green signed with WMA, which will rep her with Europe-based Artists Independent Network.
