Mogul signs lease for Seagram Building office space
|
The Seagram scion, in the process of finalizing his acquisition of Warner Music Group, has signed a 10-year lease on 16,800 square feet of office space in the landmark Seagram Building on Park Avenue, according to local reports. The space, which replaces Bronfman's 10,000-square-foot digs across the street at the architecturally notable Lever Building, presumably will be used as the new corporate hub for soon-to-be acquired Warner Music Group.
The $2.6 billion deal, which includes both WMG and Warner/Chappell music publishing, is expected to close early next year.
His father, Edgar Bronfman Sr., and uncle, Charles Bronfman, also have offices in the 38-story building, built in 1958 by architect Mies van der Rohe. Media bigwig dining spot the Four Seasons Restaurant (designed by Philip Johnson) is located in the Seagram Building.
Bronfman's Lexa Partners, an investment arm he controls with brother-in-law Alejandro Zubillaga, is renting out the entire 17th floor at the venerable bronze building. It is the same space once occupied by Vivendi Universal.
According to Crain's New York Business, rental rates in the building range from $75 to $80 per square foot.
