WB goes for more 'Girls'
'Gilmore' greenlit for fifth season

The greenlight will take "Gilmore Girls" through its fifth season on the Frog. Warner Bros. TV produces the show, which stars Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel as a mother and daughter who act more like sisters.
Amy Sherman-Palladino created the show and exec produces along with Dan Palladino and Gavin Polone.
WB co-CEO Jordan Levin called "Gilmore Girls" one of the net's "defining shows."
"It works on many levels for us by encompassing a strong, interesting family; emotionally resonating storylines; wish fulfillment; and female empowerment," Levin said. "Amy Sherman-Palladino is a gifted writer with one of the most unique voices on television, not to mention a truly frightening collection of silly hats."
Solid performer
"Gilmore Girls" remains one of the Frog's top-ranked shows, winning its time period in November among female teens. Season-to-date, the show has averaged 4.5 million viewers overall, including repeats, and 5.1 million counting just original episodes.
"We have an amazing cast and crew. They deserve to be on the air forever," Sherman-Palladino said.
Warner Bros. TV prexy Peter Roth said he was "delighted" to have negotiated the early agreement with sib net the WB.
"Their craftsmanship, talent and terrific work have resulted in this well-deserved pickup, and we are very grateful to the WB for their support and enormously proud to be associated with this magnificent series," Roth said.
