'Chris Isaak' returns in Jan.

Guest stars include Branch, McKnight, Estefan

Showtime's critically acclaimed "The Chris Isaak Show" returns for its third and final season in January.

Pay cabler has 13 episodes in the can for "Isaak," which will air Thursdays at 10 p.m. beginning Jan. 8. Guest stars this round include Michelle Branch, Brian McKnight, Gloria Estefan and Bret Michaels.

"Chris Isaak" has drawn notice for its unusual blend of fact and fiction. Hourlong comedy stars Isaak and his real-life band members Kenney Dale Johnson, Hershel Yatovitz and Rowland Salley as themselves. It also stars Kristin Datillo as Isaak's fictional manager, Yola, and Jed Rees as the band's keyboardist, Anson. Greg Winter plays Cody, Yola's chief rival at the management company.

"Chris is a fantastic talent, and we wish we could convince him to keep doing the series, but we understand his desire to focus more on his music and other things in his life," said Showtime entertainment prexy Bob Greenblatt.

Diane Frolov and Andrew Schneider ("Northern Exposure") exec produce and write the series, which is also exec produced by Isaak and Phoenix Entertainment's Mike Medavoy and Arnold Messer.
