Fred J. Brown
Obituary
Brown began his film career at Technicolor and then apprenticed at Columbia Pictures in 1954. After serving in the Marine Corps, he worked at Screen Gems, where he supervised post on shows such as "Bewitched," "The Flying Nun" and "I Dream of Jeannie." He received an Emmy for sound editing "The Red Pony."
Screen credits include "The Exorcist," "Risky Business," Conan the Barbarian," "First Blood," "1941," "The Deep" and "Elmer Gantry." He was nominated for an Oscar in sound effects editing for "Rambo: First Blood Part II."
Brown was a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences and Editors Guild #700. He received the Motion Picture Sound Editors career achievement award in March 2002.
He is survived by his wife, sound effects editor Michele Sharp.
