Biel lands 'Stealth'

'7th Heaven' alum takes on pic with ensemble cast

"Texas Chainsaw Massacre" star Jessica Biel has landed the female lead in "Stealth," the Rob Cohen-directed actioner for Columbia.

The film's being produced by Laura Ziskin and Mike Medavoy, and a big-scale ensemble cast is taxing up the runway.

Biel and co-star Josh Lucas play elite pilots drafted to stop an artificial-intelligence one that has been programmed to kill and has run amuck.

Biel, who developed a girl next door profile thanks to the WB series "7th Heaven," is being reconsidered for meatier roles because of the surprise success of "Chainsaw."

Biel will play a female vampire hunter in the David Goyer-directed New Line drama "Blade: Trinity," opposite Wesley Snipes. The studio is eyeing a possible spinoff franchise. She's repped by CAA.

Cohen has been working on a rewrite of the WD Richter script, and a Jan. 19 shoot is set for Australia, Thailand, New Zealand and China. A Memorial Day 2005 bow is being eyed for a studio that expects Cohen to deliver a summer tentpole with all the action of his recent pics "The Fast and the Furious" and "XXX."
