Grupo Pi rides to '4th Floor'
Int'l rights sold for fall sleeper hit
A portrayal of a group of teens in a cancer ward, "4th Floor" won the director and People's Choice Award at the Montreal World Film Festival in September.
Bowing Oct. 31, "4th Floor" may become a fall sleeper in Spain, having grossed E2.2 million ($2.5 million) in its first 17 days.
BocaBoca produced "4th Floor," in association with pubcaster RTVE and paybox Canal Plus Espana.
Grupo Pi will also handle overseas rights on three other Boca films previously sold directly by the company: chiller "They Watch Us," femme heist comedy "The Hold Up" and murder thriller "X."
Launched in March 2002, sales consortium Pi is the largest film rights broker in the Spanish-speaking world. It was formed by BocaBoca, Globomedia, Cartel and Video Mercury Films.
