The German state ministry for arts and culture has slated E1.5 million ($1.8 million) to back 10 film productions and four screenplays.

Helmer Christian Petzold snatched $240,000 for his project, "Gespenster" (Ghosts). The same amount was awarded to Didi Dunqart's "Offset," set in Romania, and to Ulrike Klein's drama "Pigor singt, Benedikt Eichhorn muss begleiten."

Minister Christina Weiss slated $165,000 each to Peter Rommel's "Sehnsucht," Thomas Frydetzki's "Max und Moritz" and to Angelina Maccarone's "In Orbit." Mirko Borscht and Iain Dilthey received $120,000 for their respective projects, "Main Frankfurt Oder" and "Anita."
