Margolin going for thrill ride

Author's tome 'Gone,' crime tale 'Wild' to hit bigscreen

After publishing nine bestselling suspense novels, Phillip Margolin has two books en route to the screen.

TV director Armand Mastroianni has begun production on an adaptation of Margolin novel "Gone But Not Forgotten."

Brooke Shields, Lou Diamond Philips, Scott Glenn and Marilu Henner star in the pic, about a defense attorney wrestling with her conscience while representing a multi-millionaire who may be a serial killer. Larry Levinson, Brian Gordon and Kyle Clark are producing for Silverstar Ltd.

Margolin, who has delivered his next novel, "Sleeping Beauty," to HarperCollins, has optioned "Wild Justice" to producer Thomas Staub at Shadow Ridge Films. That crime thriller concerns a volatile surgeon who becomes the prime suspect in a series of gruesome murders.

Margolin, repped by UTA and the Jean V. Naggar Literary Agency, is a former defense attorney. His novel "The Last Innocent Man" was adapted into one of the first original HBO Films, but he has yet to see a novel reach the bigscreen.

"Sleeping Beauty," which follows the intersecting lives of a bestselling novelist, a young soccer star and a man on death row, will likely be shopped to producers next week.
