Pizazz for 'Jazz' tribute

Songstress Wilson, pianist Barron among performers

The Jazz Bakery will celebrate its 10th anniversary with a tribute to Marian McPartland's NPR program "Piano Jazz" at the Freud Playhouse at UCLA Nov. 10.

McPartland, songstress Nancy Wilson, pianist Kenny Barron, guitarist Henry Johnson and vibraphonist Stefon Harris are among the performers confirmed for the fund raiser.

The Jazz Bakery, located in the former Helms Bakery building in Culver City, is a nonprofit theater presenting jazz seven nights a week. In addition, the Bakery has opened its Mondays to big bands and sponsored student showcases; it is also developing an artist-in-residence program.

McPartland has been hosting "Piano Jazz" on NPR for 25 years.
