Robert Canton

Producer, director, writer, story analyst

Robert Canton, producer, director, writer and story analyst, died of heart failure Oct. 3 in Los Angeles. He was 65.

Canton produced, wrote and directed the 1961 docu "Quetzacoatl" about the artist Orozco. He also directed features "The Good, the Bad and the Beautiful" and "A Run for the Money."

Born in Worcester, Mass., he graduated from Dartmouth College and edited its humor magazine.

He worked as a story analyst for studios and talent agencies, and was a member of the Story Analysts Union. He is survived by companion Laura Hitchcock, a brother, a sister and two stepbrothers.
