NEW YORK -- A feverish Quentin Tarantino was stuck at home in L.A., missing Tuesday night's Gotham preem of "Kill Bill Vol. 1" at the Ziegfeld.

"He's literally in bed under doctor's orders," explained Miramax honcho Harvey Weinstein. But lavish praise was heaped on the director in absentia. "Miramax is the house that Quentin built," said Weinstein of the studio's own Babe Ruth.

Gael Garcia Bernal, Julianne Moore, Peter Bogdanovich, Sofia Coppola and Ileanna Douglas were among the guests who came to watch the chopsocky. Harvey Keitel and wife Daphna Kastner were also present, opting to spend their anniversary at the unspooling, since they met at the house of producer Lawrence Bender.

Post pic, crowd assembled at Noche where crew member the Rza of the Wu Tang Clan performed. Attending were cast members Lucy Liu, Darryl Hannah, Vivica Fox, David Carradine, Uma Thurman, Sonny Chiba, Chiaki Kuriyama and Gordon Liu.
