Tribeca skeds dates, seeks scripts

2004 edition will run May 1-9

The Tribeca Film Festival has set dates for its third edition, and announced a call for screenplay submissions to the Tribeca/Sloan development program for feature projects with a scientific or technological theme.

The 2004 edition of the Tribeca fest will run May 1-9 in Lower Manhattan and is accepting entries. More than 72,000 people attended screenings and panel discussions at this year's run, with an additional 250,000 at parallel events, doubling attendance figures of the inaugural 2001 edition.

Funded by the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, the screenplay program provides financial support and mentorship over a one-year period from an advisory panel of filmmakers and experts in science and technology.

Detailed submission information for both the festival and Tribeca/Sloan program can be obtained from www.tribecafilminstitute.org.
