Warners 'Exec' on deck
'Memento' duo will bring futuristic Miers book to screen

Nolan's brother Jonathan will write the script; David Heyman and Nolan's partner Emma Thomas will produce with Akiva Goldsman.
Comic is a slightly futuristic look at a society where corporations govern and business is waged like warfare. Jonathan Nolan will begin scripting immediately as Christopher busies himself resurrecting the "Batman" franchise at WB with Christian Bale in the starring role.
The Nolans have developed a strong professional tie. Jonathan got story credit on Christopher's breakout film "Memento," and he wrote the script for "The Prestige," an adaptation of the Christopher Priest novel about competing magicians. That pic is likely to be Nolan's directorial followup to the Caped Crusader, with WB and Disney looking to co-finance.
"The Exec" also pairs two powerhouse WB-based production banners in Heyman's Heyday and Goldsman's Weed Road. Heyman has been busy completing the Alfonso Cuaron-directed "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban" and starting pre-production on "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire" with director Mike Newell. Goldsman has been prepping the Brad Pitt-Angelina Jolie pic "Mr. and Mrs. Smith" at Regency.
Heyman relishes "The Exec" as an opportunity to collaborate with Goldsman and Nolan -- and broaden into adult fare.
"It has the elements of the tension Chris created in 'Memento' and 'Insomnia,' but it is also a major-sized film, and it will be useful for Chris and Emma to apply the lessons they are learning in mounting the Batman film," Heyman said.
WB's Dan Lin will supervise with Heyday exec Marc Rosen and Weed Road's Stephanie Gisondi.
