Brass buys ex-Kirch subsid Janus
Latest subsidiary of insolvent Kirch Media sold off
BERLIN -- Company execs have taken over former Kirch Media production outfit Filmproduktion Janus in a management buyout.
Operation has been acquired by Janus chief exec Andreas Richter, producers Ivo-Alexander Beck and Helmut Kastner and head of production Franz Solfrank. Companies declined to provide financial details of the deal.
Janus, a subsid of Kirch Media's Taurus Producktion division, produces fiction and nonfiction fare for webs ProSieben, Sat 1 and Kabel 1, including canine cop skein "Koerner und Koeter" and docu series "Terraluna."
It's the latest subsidiary of the insolvent Kirch Media to be sold off after the purchase of format producer Kirch Media Entertainment by Constantin Film last month and the sale of TV network ProSiebenSat 1 to Haim Saban in August.
Kirch, once the country's biggest TV and entertainment company, went belly up last year.
