ABC, Touchstone TV sign 'Mad' man Lange

'School' thesp will likely co-write, produce future project

ABC and Touchstone Television have signed "Mad TV" alum Artie Lange to a one-year talent holding deal.

Pact calls for the studio to develop half-hour comedy projects for the comic-thesp. It's also likely Lange will end up co-writing and producing any project that results from the deal, which is designed to produce a series for ABC's fall 2004 sked.

Lange most recently appeared in the feature hit "Old School" and is part of the vocal cast on UPN's upcoming CGI laffer "Game Over." Last season, he teamed with Sam Simon for a DreamWorks TV pilot project that ultimately didn't make the cut at NBC.

In addition to his work as an original cast member of the Fox latenight sketch comedy "Mad TV," Lange -- who's repped by UTA and Peter Principato -- starred opposite Norm Macdonald in the ABC laffer "Norm." Comic also makes regular guest appearances on Howard Stern's radio gabber.
