Telefonica not content; adios, Admira

Latest step continues gradual withdrawl from film, TV

SAN SEBASTIAN -- Spanish telco giant Telefonica confirmed Wednesday it is pulling the plug on its media division, Admira Media.

Telefonica prexy Cesar Alierta has gradually withdrawn from film and TV over the past three years, dismantling the media empire that his predecessor Juan Villalonga built up to tap content for multiplatform delivery.

Admira prexy Pedro Antonio Martin Marin recently ankled to become president of the Hispasat satellite system.

Telefonica's remaining media interests, which include Dutch TV giant Endemol, Spanish production company Lolafilms and Argentinean TV station Telefe, will be overseen by media, marketing and content general manager Luis Abril.
