Gelbart play revived; Pulitzer winner jumps from Jersey
The Arthur Penn-helmed revival of Larry Gelbart's "Sly Fox" will open April 1 at the Barrymore Theater. Richard Dreyfuss stars in the title role, created by George C. Scott.
Producers Roger Berlind and Daryl Roth are not waiting for the reviews from New Jersey's McCarter Theater, where Nilo Cruz's "Anna in the Tropics" opens tonight. They will bring the Emily Mann-directed production to the Royale Theater. Previews begin Nov. 1, with the Broadway preem set for Nov. 16.
Jimmy Smits and Daphne Rubin-Vega star at the New Jersey nonprofit theater and are expected to reprise their roles in New York.
Set in a Cuban-American cigar factory circa 1929, the play was a surprise winner of this year's Pulitzer Prize for drama.
