Teutonic firm alters forecast

Delay of two pics could result in financial loss

By ED MEZA

BERLIN -- German film group Internationalmedia issued a profit warning Wednesday saying its revenue and profit for 2003 may fall short of its forecast if it's forced to postpone the release of upcoming films.

Renny Harlin's "Mindhunters" and E. Elias Merhige's "Suspect Zero" were penciled in for a late 2003 release, with revenues bolstering second-half figures along with continuing business from Internationalmedia's biggest hit to date, "Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines."

However, the group said it was now probable that the two films would hit theaters next year. Internationalmedia had expected $330 million-$350 million in annual revenue plus an operating profit. If the pics' release dates are pushed back to 2004, Internationalmedia would post a loss in the low millions, company said.

The group added that it expected $70 million in revenue from the films, which would be included in its first-quarter figures in 2004.
