The 33 shorts, 10 docus and seven features were chosen from an unprecedented pool of 3,000 international submissions.
Thesp Bret Carr's directorial debut "Lou," about a boxing phenom with a speech impediment, will open the fest. Carr collaborated with scribe Quinn K. Redeker and composer Bill Conti for this film. Pic will screen at the New Malibu Theater followed by an after-party at Duke's in Malibu.
Awards for films and filmmakers will be doled out at the closing celebration at Taverna Tony's.
With a fresh new four-year mandate, Marco Mueller finally has a chance to burnish his legacy on the Lido and take it to a higher plateau.
In frugal times, studios are rethinking the value of expensive European preems and the impact on box office and Oscar.

Intensely involved with the emotionally alienated and disoriented parents of a teenage girl who went missing four years earlier, Troch's work is so bundled in elliptical moments and scenes without context that it will test -- and break -- most viewers' patience.
