U cable nets tap Saypoff sr. VP, CFO

Exec to o'see finance, budgets, IT, network operations

NEW YORK -- Universal's cable networks, including USA and the Sci Fi Channel, have hired Todd Saypoff as senior VP and chief financial officer.

Saypoff resigned as senior VP of finance for the MTV Networks to take the post, which will put him in charge of finance, budgets, information technology and network operations.

In addition to USA and Sci Fi, he'll be responsible for these functions at Universal's two other cable networks, Trio and Newsworld Intl.

Saypoff performed a variety of exec jobs since joining MTV Networks in 1990. Before that, he was an exec with ad agency Young & Rubicam.

Saypoff will report to Steve Brunell, CFO of the Universal TV Group.
