Emmett/Furla to 'Service' pic

Riches-to-rags pic added to duo's co-prod'n slate

Emmett/Furla Films has acquired Beverly Brandt's novel "Room Service" and will partner with Gale Anne Hurd's Valhalla Motion Pictures to produce the picture.

The romantic comedy concerns a spoiled young heiress who is forced to abandon her socialite lifestyle and take a job in the hotel where she once lived a lavish life.

The adaptation of "Room Service" marks the third collaboration for Emmett/Furla and Valhalla. They're also producing the sci-fi adventure film "Micronauts" and horror pic "The Abominable Snowman."

Emmett and Furla are exec producing "Love Song for Bobby Long," produced by Bob Yari and Paul Miller and starring John Travolta and Scarlett Johansson. Emmett/Furla also exec produced "Wonderland," which Lions Gate will release in September.
