Spain TV expo set for return to Miami

Event sets its eye on Florida

MIAMI -- The Spain TV Expo is following last year's successful Miami bow with a second edition, skedded for Nov. 19-22.

Three-day event is organized by the Spanish Institute for Foreign Trade (Icex) and Spain's bureau for trade in Miami in conjunction with the Spanish Federation of Assns. of Audiovisual Producers (Fapae).

Spanish channels and indie production companies will present their latest programming to broadcast net and feevee buyers from Latin America and the U.S. Hispanic market.

Spanish participants lauded the debut 2002 expo for helping them make new contacts.

The Spaniards have borrowed a page from their Gallic neighbors in creating a targeted mini-market.

TV France Intl. just held its third annual Miami showcase July 9-11, featuring 11 French distribs, among them the Carrerre Group, TF1 Intl. and M6.

The French event attracted programmers and buyers from the Miami-based Latin American divisions of pay TV programmers such as HBO Group, Discovery Networks, MGM and MTV Networks, as well as in-region broadcasters like Mexico's Grupo Televisa.
