Based in Coral Springs, Fla, Digital Latin America provides digital content and services to cable operators in Latin America and the Caribbean. The company is a joint venture formed by Hicks, Muse, Tate and Furst, Liberty Media Intl. and Motorola.
cl@se was launched by the Cisneros TV Group, now Claxson, in 1996. The channel targets kids ages 6-18, and, prior to this deal, reached 1.8 million homes in Latin America via satcaster DirecTV Latin America and a number of regional MSOs. It is also distributed in 30,000 Mexican schools.
Cablevision Mexico, Cablevision Monterrey in Mexico and Telecable in the Dominican Republic will be the first operators to bow cl@se as a digital service.
