Viacom taps TV prod'n exec

Exec to o'see physical prod'n

Viacom Prods. has tapped Ron Von Schimmelmann senior VP of production.

Reporting to unit prexy Perry Smith, Von Schimmelmann will oversee physical production for all forms on TV.

He spent the past six years as veep of production for Paramount Network Television, where he managed production for dramas including "JAG," "Enterprise," "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine," "Star Trek: Voyager" and "Soul Food."

Von Schimmelmann was previously VP of production for the Disney Channel and MGM TV.

He's also worked on the seminal miniseries "Roots" and the Marshall Herskovitz-Ed Zwick series "thirtysomething."
