New Line corporate chief Donovan exits

Exec o'saw campaigns for 'Powers,' 'Wedding Singer'

New Line Cinema veteran Mary K. Donovan will ankle her post as exec VP of corporate affairs after a 14-year tenure with the studio in various executive publicity positions.

Donovan will depart her post at the end of July to pursue other opportunities. The New York-based exec joined New Line in 1989 as director of publicity. She then became VP and later senior VP of East Coast publicity before taking over the national publicity department in 1998. In 2001, she formed the corporate affairs division.

New Line confirmed that the company will seek a Gotham-based replacement for the position to continue overseeing corporate communications and dealing with all Time Warner and AOL-related news.

"Mary is an integral part of the New Line family," said company co-chairs and co-CEOs Robert Shaye and Michael Lynne in a statement. "She has a proven track record of creating unique and diverse publicity campaigns for our theatrical releases over the years.

"Mary has also played a significant role representing New Line within our parent company AOL Time Warner, helming our corporate affairs division and enhancing our corporate image overall," the statement continued. "We regret that she has chosen to move on but wish her great success and joy in the future."

During Donovan's tenure as head of publicity, she oversaw campaigns for such releases as "Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me," which earned PR Week magazine's PR campaign of the year title. She also oversaw the release of "Rush Hour 2," "The Wedding Singer," "Blade," "Magnolia" and "Pleasantville," among others.

Prior to joining New Line, Donovan worked in publicity at Vestron Pictures and TriStar Pictures.
