Bavaria Film sells 'Lenin,' 'Africa'
Co. makes deal with pubcaster YLE for Teutonic titles
"Lenin," a bittersweet comedy about German reunification, was picked up by Hong Kong distrib Edko as well as Finland's Kamras, which also picked up "Nowhere in Africa." Latter, about a Jewish-German family living in Kenya during the WWII, also sold to Ecofilmes in Portugal and Korea's With Cinema. Korean distrib also nabbed Aki Kaurismaki's "The Man Without a Past."
Finnish pubcaster YLE acquired a package from Bavaria that includes Teutonic titles "Distant Lights," "Grill Point," "I'm the Father" and "Solino." SPI Intl bought tyke pic "The Flying Classroom" and "Mostly Martha" for Poland, while Thailand's Right Beyond nabbed prison drama "14 Days to Life."
Bavaria also unloaded neo-Nazi drama "Fuhrer Ex" to Canada's K-Films Amerique and pre-sold Veit Helmer's "Gate to Heaven" and Kim Ki-Duk's "Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter ... and Spring" to A-Film for the Benelux territories.
