'Wrinkle in Time' takes top honors
Fest sees record attendance despite SARS
Based on the Madeleine L'Engle book, "A Wrinkle in Time" follows the kids and neighbor of a world-renowned physicist who becomes lost in a time travel experiment.
Also chosen by the Sprockets audience, this year's animation award went to Sarah Ball's "Bob the Builder: A Christmas to Remember," in which Sir Elton John saves Christmas for Bob the builder and his brother Tom.
Three juries selected "Elina," from Swedish director Klaus Haro, Morten Kohlert's "Little Big Girl," from Denmark, and British film "Divine," from Angela M. Murray, for honors.
The travel advisory slapped on Toronto by the World Health Organisation due to the outbreak of SARS coincided with the festival's ten-day run. Despite that, Sprockets set a new attendance record for its 17 features and 54 shorts in 15 languages from 21 countries.
