Stillking bags trio with 'Prince'
Prodco also busy with 'Van Helsing,' 'Ugly Americans'
Shooting in castles around the Czech Republic begins in mid July for five weeks, after winding up its Toronto leg. Martha Coollidge helms and Julia Stiles stars as the American coed who falls for the prince of Denmark.
The busy production company sees the second unit of Universal's "Van Helsing" wrapping May 1. That's followed by start of principal photography on DreamWorks' "Ugly Americans" project on May 5. Shoot runs 10 weeks, primarily location.
The DreamWorks comedy also zeroes in on American college students looking for fun and romance in Europe, with Prague filling in for various European spots. Principal trio of largely unknowns includes "Buffy" TV vet Michelle Trachtenberg. More prominent names are likely to be lined up for cameos.
Ivan Reitman and Tom Pollock exec produce under the Montecito banner for DreamWorks. Producers include Dan Goldberg, Joe Medjude and Jackie Josephson. The trio of writers -- Alec Berg, David Mandel and Jeff Schaffer -- were to co-direct as well. However when their co-directing credit waiver was nixed, the helmer's chair went to Schaffer. Berg and Mandel are now billed as producers.
The addition of "The Prince and the Freshman" to the local filming schedule has just about filled the Prague's dance card for the summer. However, that hasn't stopped the influx of yet more producers checking out the city for upcoming films.
