'Makeover' suits ABC

From 9 to 10:10, "The Bachelor" (roughly 6.2/16 in adults 18-49, 12.9 million viewers overall) led its timeslot in 18-49 with the best numbers for the current edition. And the first series try for "Extreme Makeover" produced strong second-place numbers (5.6/15 in adults 18-49, 12.2 million viewers overall), not too far behind NBC's "Law & Order" (6.3/17 in adults 18-49, 17.9 million viewers overall). "Extreme" beat "Law" in adults 18-34.
Fox's "American Idol" (roughly 9.2/26 in adults 18-49, 19 million viewers overall) again topped its combined ABC-CBS-NBC competish, and the comedies on either side of it - "That '70s Show" (5.5/17 in adults 18-49) and "Bernie Mac" (roughly 6.2/15 in adults 18-49) - also led their slots in 18-49. At 9:30, "Wanda at Large" (5.0/12 in adults 18-49) fell behind "The Bachelor" for the first time.
NBC was led by "Law & Order" and an original "West Wing" that placed third in adults 18-49 (4.4/11) and a close second in adults 25-54 (5.9/13). At CBS, "Star Search" (2.7/8 in adults 18-49, 10.6 million viewers overall) picked it up a notch but remained fourth in both 18-49 and 25-54.
Preliminary 18-49 averages for the night: Fox, 6.5/17; ABC, 4.9/13; NBC, 4.5/12; CBS, 2.5/7.
In total viewers: NBC and Fox were neck-and-neck with about 13.5 million viewers.
