AFI board taps HBO's Albrecht

Trustees serve three-year terms

The American Film Institute's board of trustees has elected HBO topper Chris Albrecht and 2929 Entertainment founder-CEO Todd Wagner as members.

"Chris and Todd bring an enormous amount of wisdom and expertise that will help AFI continue to fulfill its mission to advance and preserve the art of the moving image," said Howard Stringer, chairman of the board.

AFI's board holds 73 seats. Trustees serve for three-year terms and can serve up to three consecutive terms, then be re-elected after one year of absence.

Albrecht, chairman-CEO of HBO, is responsible for the overall management of the cabler. He was named to his current position in July 2002.

Wagner co-founded and headed Broadcast.com before launching 2929 Entertainment, which holds Rysher Entertainment and syndication rights to "Sex and the City" and "Star Search," among other shows. Company is co-producing, with Lions Gate, the Robert De Niro thriller "Godsend."
