Inside Move: ABC delays 'Makeover'

Surgical show sidelined by war as promotion suffers

ABC has decided to delay the series premiere of "Extreme Makeover."

Reality skein, which gives ordinary folks the chance to remake their lives via plastic surgery and other tricks, had been set to bow next Thursday. But given the ongoing war and the Alphabet's recent troubles promoting the launch of new reality concepts, execs felt it better to wait at least a few weeks before putting on a new reality concept.

It's not clear yet whether ABC will premiere the show in May or wait until summer.

"Makeover," from Lighthearted Entertainment, aired as an hourlong spec in November and generated boffo Nielsen numbers, attracting more than 13 million viewers. It didn't take long for the net to greenlight a series version.

ABC has been rejiggering its reality skeins lately, recently opting to relaunch "The Family" this summer.
