U 'Makeover' turns execs into scripters
Comedy pic loosely based on 'King Lear'
The comedy, roughly based on "King Lear," follows three pampered daughters of a corporate raider who are forced to learn how to be hard-nosed business execs. Deal was made for low six figures against high six figures.
Robinson heads Imagine TV's drama department under company president David Nevins.
"All the dramas I oversee hopefully have a little comedy in them," Robinson said of her comic leanings.
The TV exec added that she had no interest in scripting sitcoms. "I feel the joke, but I just don't like the multicamera, half-hour comedy."
Script went to Imagine because of a first-look clause in the shingle's employment contracts.
Scribe partners Stempel and Robinson are friends from their college days at Vassar.
Asked if she plans to quit her day job, Robinson said, "We'll see."
Asked the same question, Stempel replied: "TBD. Hopefully. Everyone envisions Henson being sold and everyone being out of a job by the summer, so this is perfect timing."
Imagine film exec VP Maureen Peyrot and veep David Bernardi will produce, and senior production VP Holly Bario will oversee for U.
