Miami will play host to the fourth annual Latin Grammy Awards this fall, shifting the kudocast away from its traditional home in Los Angeles to America's best-known hub of Latin music for the first time in its young history.
The festivities will take place Sept. 3 at Miami's American Airlines Arena, and will be broadcast domestically on CBS from 9-11 p.m. Nominations for the night's 41 award categories will be announced this summer.
'Tens of millions'
"Having the Latin Grammys in Miami is worth tens of millions of dollars to this community," said William Talbert III, Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau chief. "The event will give priceless international exposure to this world-class destination, which serves as a hub for Latin music and culture."
The Latin Grammys got their start in 2000 at L.A's Staples Center. Event was called off in 2001 due to the Sept. 11 attacks (winners were later announced in L.A.), but the fest returned in 2002 to the Kodak Theater in Hollywood.
