Chloe Sevigny showcased Elia Kazan's "America America" during her recent hosting stint for the AFI's Grand Classics' monthly benefit.

Format invites an actor or director to choose a film that inspires them. Sevigny said she considers Kazan's pic "a nearly perfect film -- about a man's journey, his perseverance and his dream. . . Especially now, it's important to remember why people come to our country and the value of democracy," she added.

The Grand Classics has raised more than $20,000 for AFI and film preservation.

Co-founder Vanessa Wingate and partner Katrina Pavlos were on hand, along with thesps Natasha Lyonne, Bill Pullman and Agnes Bruckner.
