RIAA, Technicolor settle suit over piracy
Videotape maker must pay org $2.3 mil
|
Settlement calls for Technicolor to pay the RIAA and its members $2.3 million to compensate for the loss of revenues inflicted by any pirated discs. Part of the money paid out will go to the trade org's Music Coalition -- a publicity campaign aimed at preventing piracy.
"Along with our other anti-piracy efforts, this settlement should remind everyone that the music industry is serious about respecting the rights of artists, record labels and other creators," said RIAA chief exec Hilary Rosen.
